Revenue from 700 MHz wave auction is Tk 2,370 crore: Faiz Ahmad Tayyub

According to Faiz Ahmad Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, the revenue of the government is 2 thousand 370 crores from the 700 MHz wave auction. He said this in a post on Facebook on Wednesday night

In a Facebook post, Faiz Ahmad said, around 2007, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) opened the International Mobile Telecommunication 700 MHz as the primary band for mobile services. In a Facebook post, he said, ‘After being held hostage by miscreants for almost 18 years, the interim government was able to open up 700 MHz waves, and this is bringing in a huge revenue of Rs 2370 crore to the government. The government had to go through a two-tier legal process for this.’

The Special Assistant said that for the first time in the history of Bangladesh, 700 MHz wave is going to be added to the telecommunication service. Through this, the way for the expansion of 4G and 5G services in Bangladesh has been opened with better quality coverage. In a few days, the process of opening other unused waves of the lower band including the E-GSM band will begin. He expressed hope that the revenue of 1 thousand crore rupees will gradually come from there.

According to Faiz Ahmad, there is a plan to allocate lower band waves for the government telecommunication service provider Teletalk.

Incidentally, the 700 MHz band is a part of the radio frequency spectrum that is primarily used for mobile telecommunications—especially 4G and 5G services. Simply put—it’s a kind of ‘wireless road’ used to run mobile networks.
