Last day of extortionists will be February 12: Nahid

Dhaka-11 Constituency Member of Parliament candidate and National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that the politics of extortion, terrorism and usurpers will end on February 12 through voting in the 13th National Assembly Elections. Nahid said this on Sunday (25th January) during the election campaign at Baddar swimming club in the capital.

Nahid Islam said, ‘People thought that the culture of extortion and usurpation would die by August 5. But we saw them start again. We think that those who have supported usurpers and extortionists will be defeated on February 12. That’s what people want. Candidates of 11 parties are in favor of reforms and justice, they will be popular all over the country.

Nahid Islam said, one party is trying to intimidate his workers-supporters. But these efforts are not succeeding. He said, February 12 will be the last day of extortionists, terrorists and usurpers.

Nahid mentioned that people are ready to vote. He said, ‘Now that there is a new party, a new equation, we are seeing a lot of enthusiasm among people. This election is a historic election, an election to change people’s destiny. This is what we mean to people.’

People have a lot of expectations about elections. But Nahid complained that the Election Commission is not neutral. He said, ‘The Election Commission gave me a show cause notice for campaigning for the referendum. On the other hand, the rival candidate has been campaigning since there were no rules. No action was taken against them.’

Nahid Islam complained and said, “The supporters are being intimidated even though there is no direct obstacle. Being prevented from taking office. An atmosphere of fear is being created to discourage people from coming to polling stations.’ He said, ‘We think people will spontaneously come to polling stations. We hope the administration will remain neutral, otherwise the election will be questionable.’

Nasiruddin Patwari, NCP’s candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, campaigned in the AGB Colony area of Motijheel in the capital. At that time, he complained that the level playing field was not ensured. Pointing to BNP, he said, big irregularities of a party are not noticed by the administration. But action is being taken against others even for minor matters.

Nasiruddin urged everyone to vote for the candidates of the 11-party electoral unity as well as vote ‘yes’ in the referendum on the reform question.
