NASA Group’s decision to sell assets to pay workers’ arrears

Brigadier General (Retd.) Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment. M Sakhawat Hossain said that following the order of the court, it has been decided to sell the property of the NASA group and pay the due salary and service benefits of the workers of the organizations.

The advisor said this in the 15th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee regarding ‘Review of the Labor and Business Situation of the Industrial Institutions of Beximco Industrial Park’ in the meeting room of the Ministry of Labor and Employment at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday.

The adviser said, NASA has already sold the shares of the group through the administrator appointed by the court and paid Tk 76 crore to its workers. Apart from this, Nasa Group has already made down payments to 8 banks under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank. The down payment of the remaining 15 banks and the remaining arrears of the workers, as per the court’s direction, NASA will take necessary steps to sell some of the group’s properties through open tender.

Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Additional Inspector General of Industrial Area Police and Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Financial Institutions Department, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, senior officials of Directorate of Inspection of Factories and Institutions, administrators of NASA Group and other representatives of the institution and officials of various commercial banks were present in the meeting.
