Like-minded Islamist groups have demanded that 'extremist organization' ISKCON be banned, along with prosecuting the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam. This demand was made at a press conference organized by like-minded Islamic parties at Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday (November 28).
On behalf of the parties, the vice-president of Jamiat Ulamae Islam Bangladesh, Abdur Rob Yusufi, said in a written statement that speaking against ISKCON does not mean speaking against traditional religious people. Hindu brothers and sisters should be careful about this, so that no one steps into the trap of ISKCON. Spreading communal conflict in the country, terrorist organization ISKCON is trying to hunt fish in murky waters. It is a radical sectarian organization. ISKCON members do 90 percent of the insulting religion in today's online world.
He said, India's Ministry of External Affairs has said in a statement – where the perpetrators of attacks on minorities are out of touch, a religious leader has spoken out against these injustices. He has been arrested again with a counter-charge against him.
On the other hand, in a counter statement to India's concern, the Foreign Office of Bangladesh said that since the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das on specific charges, some circles are spreading wrong information about him. Such an unsubstantiated statement is not only false, but also contrary to the spirit of friendly relations and understanding between the two neighboring countries.
He further said that we welcome the government's statement. We all have to be patient so that communal harmony and law and order are not destroyed. We have to be careful that conspirators don't take advantage.
At this time, they presented three demands. The demands are-
1. Extremist organization ISKCON should be banned in Bangladesh.
2. All the crimes organized by ISKCON, including the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam, should be tried fairly.
3. The perpetrators of communal incitement or rioting should be swiftly brought to justice.
The press conference was also attended by Senior Naib Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, Senior Naib Amir Abdul Majed of Nezame Islami Party, Senior Joint Secretary General of Khilafat Majlis Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Vice President of Jamiat Ulamae Islam Bangladesh Maulana Abdul Quddus and others.
