Apple will buy the popular photo editing app 'Pixelmator'. Through this, Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator app for iOS and Photomator platform will be under the control of the tech giant.
Apple is emphasizing on artificial intelligence or AI-based image creation and editing features. The company recently introduced the 'Clean Up' feature on iOS, which works similar to Google's Magic Eraser feature. Therefore, technology analysts believe that Apple is taking the decision to buy the company to use the Pixelmator technology in the Photos app.
Pixelmator said in a blog post last Friday that the deal will allow the app to reach a wider audience and have a greater impact on the lives of creative people around the world.
However, the details of the agreement were not disclosed. The deal is still in process. Apple is awaiting regulatory approval to buy the company. However, the acquisition process may be somewhat complicated, with Microsoft Activision successfully acquiring Blizzard, but deals with Nvidia and Arm, Amazon and iRobot, and, more recently, Adobe and Figma, have been canceled due to regulatory pressure.
Apple acquired the popular weather app Dark Sky in 2020. However, it shut down the app in 2022 and merged its technology with its own weather app. However, other software packages acquired by Apple, such as Final Cut and Logic Pro, are still in use.
