Long queues of voters in some centers and disruption of polling in some centers is a normal sight of elections. However, in-person early voting and postal voting generally do not pose any problems.
Several parts of the state, including western North Carolina, were hit hard by Hurricane Helen last month. There is a shortage of electricity and water. The streets disappear. The state's Republican-controlled legislature made some changes to early voting. State and local election officials benefited from this. Early voting ended last Saturday. It shows that more than 44 lakh votes were cast, which is about 57 percent of the total votes. But according to the latest count on Monday, about 59 percent of early voting was done in the 25 counties in the western part of the state hit by the hurricane.
