We will build ourselves with the desire of the liberation war, Bangladesh of the future will be written in our hands: Nahid Islam


Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) convenor and opposition chief whip said that it is necessary to establish an accountable and welfare state to pay the debts of the martyrs of the liberation war. Nahid Islam. Calling on the new generation, he said, ‘We will build ourselves on the ideals of truth, justice, courage and patriotism, holding the true desire of the liberation war in our hearts. Bangladesh of the future will be written in our hands.’

Opposition Chief Whip said, ‘Today is March 26, the Great Independence and National Day. A unique day of glory and pride in our history. We remember with deep respect and gratitude all the brave martyrs of the great liberation war, whose immortal sacrifice has earned our independent-sovereign Bangladesh. At the same time, we respectfully remember those oppressed heroes, whose sacrifices and courage have made our national history more glorious.

“On the 55th anniversary of independence, I extend my sincere greetings and congratulations to all Bangladeshis at home and abroad.”

The NCP convener said, ‘The independence of 1971 was not just a territorial achievement; It was a pledge to build a state based on justice, equality, democracy and human dignity. Even after so many years of independence, that promise is still waiting for full implementation.

“The dark rule of dictatorship and fascism has been repeatedly imposed on this nation, obstructing the natural course of democracy. There have been several attempts to weaken the state and bow down to foreign powers. Yet the people of this land never accepted defeat. Every time the masses have risen to the question of rights, dignity and freedom. The nation was freed from autocracy in exchange for the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs in the last July mass coup. At the same time, our democratic rights and national pride have returned.

Nahid Islam said, ‘On this great day, our firm commitment is that we will build an accountable, just and inclusive state system to repay the blood debt of the martyrs. With an uncompromising stance against corruption, injustice and discrimination, we will move forward on the path to a modern, developed and humane Bangladesh—where the rights, dignity and security of every citizen are equally guaranteed.

Calling the new generation, we will build ourselves on the ideals of truth, justice, courage and patriotism, holding the true desire of the liberation war in our hearts. Bangladesh of the future will be written in our hands.

“I pray to Almighty Allah for the peace, prosperity and all-round welfare of the country and the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs.”
