Trump Wants to Withdraw from Paris Climate Agreement: New York Times

President-elect Donald Trump's team has drawn up a plan for a climate agreement. It includes an executive order to withdraw from the Paris climate accord as well as directives to downsize some national monuments. This will create an opportunity to increase the extraction of oil and minerals. The British news agency Reuters reported on the report published by the American media New York Times on Friday (November 8).

According to the report, Trump may also lift the suspension of liquefied natural gas exports. As a result, new approvals for exports to large markets in Asia and Europe may come. In addition, he can also bring relaxation in strict pollution control laws in California and other states.

Donald Trump promised to take these steps during the election campaign. Carolyn Levitt, a spokeswoman for his transition team, said a win in the election would give him the chance to make good on that promise. The newly elected president will fulfill his promises.

In January, the Biden administration temporarily suspended approval of new LNG exports. The decision was made to complete a study on the environmental and economic impact of fossil fuels. A US Department of Energy official said the draft study will be open to public scrutiny for 60 days before the end of the year.

Some members of the transition team are discussing moving the Environmental Protection Agency's headquarters from Washington, according to a New York Times report, multiple people who spoke on condition of anonymity said. However, the details are not known yet.
