The future government should be at the center of establishing people's rights: JSD general secretary

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan has commented that the governments of the past were the center of power and dominance, but the government of the future should be the center of establishing the rights of the people.

He made this comment at the discussion meeting on Martyred Intellectuals Day and December 16 Invader Freedom Day at the central office of JSD on Sunday afternoon.

JSD general secretary said that after the liberation war, the then ruling group established a one-party system of government without forming a national government in the independent country. After that those who came to the power of the country have axed the power of the people of the country. As a result, the Awami League became a fascist regime for the last 16 years, which the people of Bangladesh overthrew in the July mass coup.

Shaheed Uddin Mahmud Swapan called for the progress of the reform program of the interim government and said that the reform should be aimed at ensuring the participation of the people in the center of power. He also warned that reforms will not work if people's participation is not ensured. For this, he demanded the formation of a bicameral parliament to ensure the participation of labor, work and professionals in the National Parliament.

Syed Belayet Hossain Belal, Mosharraf Hossain, Kamal Uddin Majumdar Saju, Abdul Mannan Munsi, Kamrul Ahsan Apu, Anisa Ratna, Kamrul Huda Labloo, Syed Omar Farooq Salim, Mohammad Shamim and others also spoke in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of JSD Vice President Mohammad Siraj Mia.
