Tasnim Zara, who submitted nomination papers as an independent candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency, has appealed to regain her candidacy for the 13th Parliament elections. Today, Monday (January 5), he made this appeal at Booth No. 7 of the Dhaka Region of the Center for Filing Appeals at the Election Commission Building at Agargaon in the capital.
After submitting the appeal, Tasnim Zara told reporters, ‘In just a day and a half, about 5,000 people have spontaneously signed our support. Gave a lot of love. Worked as a volunteer. Those who have signed, want me to participate in the election. Respecting them, we are continuing the legal fight.’
At that time, his lawyer Arman Hossain said that they filed this appeal according to Article 14 (5) of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) 1972 and Rule 5 of the Election Conduct Rules 2008. He said, ‘Legally we have 100% chance of winning this appeal. We hope, through the appeal Dr. Tasnim Zara can again compete in Dhaka-9 seat as the people’s candidate.
Lawyer Arman Hossain said, “During the collection of signatures, the election commission’s server was not working, so there was no opportunity to verify the voter area.” Moreover, the question has been raised about the voter, his national identity card mentions Dhaka-9 constituency as a constituency. Since we didn’t have a chance to verify it, we had to face the issue from there. We are hopeful that this issue will be resolved soon in the appeal hearing and we will be legally permissible to contest this seat.’
It may be noted that Tasneem Zara was the senior joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP). He resigned from NCP on December 27. In a Facebook post that evening, he said that he will participate in the elections from Dhaka-9 as an independent candidate, not as a candidate of any particular party or alliance.
