“There is no point in postponing the elections in the name of reforms” – Zainul Abdin Farooq, advisor to the Chairperson of BNP, commented on the interim government.
He made this comment at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in the capital on Friday. The meeting titled 'Election Roadmap and People's Aspiration' was organized by the Chalak team.
Addressing the interim government in the meeting, Farooq said, 'There is no need to think about their (India) words, think about the people of the country. Postponing elections in the name of reforms makes no sense. Fasting is coming up, so watch out that no people of Awami League can syndicate.'
Alleging that there is a conspiracy to destroy the nationalist forces, he said, 'Awami League people are trying to blame BNP by creating trouble. People of other religions are good in the country. Hindus are being oppressed, there is no use in saying these things.'
Zainul Abdin Farooq warned India at this time and said, 'You (India) please straighten up. What Mamata said about Victory Day, what Modi said, we don't care. Three organizations of BNP have made a long march towards Agartala. Brahmanbaria is enough for India. People of Bangladesh are very aware. He may be poor but he has a big heart.'
He also said, 'In India, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is drinking coffee comfortably, walking in the park. You (Sheikh Hasina) must come to Bangladesh, face trial. You have to go to the mirror even for a day. If you can send Nationalist Khaleda Zia to Jail, then you also have to go to Kashimpur Jail.'
Chalak Dal President Jasim Uddin Kabir presided over the meeting, BNP National Executive Committee member Abu Naser Rahmatullah, Bangladesh Democratic Party Organizing Secretary Amir Hossain Amu, Chalak Dal General Secretary Jewel Khandkar etc. addressed the meeting.
