Vice Chairman of BNP addressed the interim government. Asaduzzaman Ripon said that the government is bypassing the process of reform by talking about reform. They are following Sheikh Hasina's path in appointing judges, appointing election commissioners and appointing people to the anti-corruption commission. I don't know how much this government wants to reform. But the people of Bangladesh will not accept it if they want to cling to power for years in the name of reform.
He said these things in a discussion meeting organized by Zia Shishu-Kishore Mela Central Committee at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday (December 25). It was organized on the occasion of the 29th death anniversary of Zahid Hossain Chunnu, former cultural secretary of BNP and former convener of Nationalist Social Cultural Organization (Jasas).
Addressing the interim government, Asaduzzaman Ripon said, 'The government talks about reforms. But the government has already missed three important steps of reform. They have erred in reforming the Election Commission. He did not give any date for the election, but formed the Election Commission. However, no reform report has come regarding the Election Commission. Before the first report of the anti-corruption commission was presented, the government set up the anti-corruption commission. 23 judges were appointed in the judiciary. This government appoints judges in the same manner as Sheikh Hasina appointed judges. We wanted the process of appointing judges to be reformed. But the government did not do that.'
He said, 'The weakest government in history is the current interim government. If a weak government is in power, the independence and sovereignty of the country may be endangered, the law and order situation may deteriorate, and economic chaos may occur. An elected government is needed to fix them. Elections should be arranged by 2025. Elections are the cause of all the crises in Bangladesh.
This vice chairman of BNP said, 'Our crisis is not over yet. We are in a great crisis. Our leader Tariq Rahman has repeatedly said that the upcoming elections will be difficult and conspiracies are being made against BNP. People have to approach and gain trust. He said, the politics before August 5 and the politics after August 5 are not the same.
Zia Shishu-Kishore Mela Central Committee President Jahangir Shikder presided over the discussion meeting and other leaders were present.
