Mirza Fakhrul, seriously ill in the memorial, lay down on the floor


BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul fell seriously ill after coming to pay homage at the National Memorial on Victory Day. After paying his respects, as soon as he came forward to talk to the journalists, he fell down on the floor due to the jostling of the leaders and workers. Later he slowly lay down there.

The incident took place at Savar National Memorial at around 10:20 am on Monday. Later, the leaders-activists tied him up and quickly took him to the Channel 24 car. The car quickly left the memorial premises.

Eyewitnesses said that BNP leaders and activists started a massive stampede after offering flowers at the martyr's altar. More than half a hundred journalists from different media were waiting a little ahead from there. Mirza Fakhrul came forward to talk to reporters. He sat down on the floor feeling ill when he came in front of the reporters' cameras. Even then, the leaders and workers kept pushing to see him. Local leaders and activists gathered around the central leaders. After a few minutes, Mirza Fakhrul fell on the floor. Then water is seen pouring on his head. Later, the leaders and workers left the monument after picking him up. CSF members have to struggle to handle the crowd.

Later, the leaders took Mirza Fakhrul in a microbus of Channel-24 inside the memorial and left quickly around 10:30.

A BNP Standing Committee member, Dhamrai Upazila Youth Dal President Murad and two other persons were seen in that car.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dhaka District BNP President Khandaker Abu Ashfaq, General Secretary Nipoon Roy, former Member of Parliament of Savar Salauddin Babu and other leaders-activists of various levels were also present at this time.

BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said that he was immediately taken to Savar Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
