Ministry to arrange accommodation for canceled flight passengers: Expatriate Welfare Minister


Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, ‘Due to the deterioration of the regional security situation in the Middle East, the airspace of Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates is temporarily closed. Due to which 28 flights have been canceled so far. Accommodation and food arrangements for canceled flights have been made by the ministry.

The Minister told reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Saturday midnight. Earlier, he inspected the suffering of the passengers going abroad due to cancellation of flights and directed the authorities concerned to alleviate the suffering.

Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister said, ‘We have accommodation for 800 people. If not, more hotels will be arranged immediately.’ He said, ‘There were 53 passengers on the last flight. We are taking them to the hotel. After feeding them sehri at night, we will take them to Sylhet by AC bus the next day.’

The minister said, ‘Now a flight is supposed to go to Saudi Arabia. If Saudi operates then it is good. If not, we will arrange for them to stay and eat and we will arrange for them to reach their destination.’

The minister said, ‘Our missions and embassies have been told that the Bangladeshis should be brought to a safe place.’

When asked about the casualties of Bangladeshis abroad, the minister said, ‘Three Bangladeshis were injured in the attack at the Kuwait airport. Two of them have received first aid and one is undergoing treatment. Our embassy is in touch with them.’
