Menon Named in Custody Allegation in Tribunal, Workers' Party Surprise

On May 5, 2013, the leader of Hefazat Islam, Junayed Al Habib, filed a complaint with the International Criminal Tribunal for the 'massacre' of the Hefazat rally at Shapla square in the capital's Motijheel. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and more than half a hundred people have been accused in the complaint. Rashed Khan Menon, former minister and president of Workers' Party, is in this list. His team expressed surprise about this.

On Thursday (November 28), the Politburo of the Workers' Party condemned Rashed Khan Menon in a statement claiming he was implicated in a 'false case'.

Rashed Khan Menon, who was arrested in multiple murder cases during the anti-discrimination student movement, is now in jail after remand.

A statement signed by Mustafa Alamgir Ratan, convener of the party's central media department during his imprisonment, claimed responsibility for the 2013 detention incident. The people of this country have not forgotten the history of the chaos they created by killing their own workers and burning the Quran Sharif by setting fire to the Baitul Mukarm area by deteriorating the law and order situation.

The Politburo of the Workers' Party also demanded immediate withdrawal of the 'false case' filed against Rashed Khan Menon at the International Criminal Tribunal.
