Lutfuzzaman Babar on the plane on the way to Saudi Arabia

Former Home Minister Lutfuzzaman Babar has been admitted to Dubai Hospital on his way to Saudi Arabia to observe Umrah. Labib is with him at the hospital. UAE BNP convenor Zakir Hossain confirmed the information on Friday morning.

Zakir Hossain said Babar left for the Emirates Airlines flight from Dhaka on Thursday afternoon to celebrate Omarah. The flight arrived in Dubai around 7:30 pm local time. Babar felt chest pain while on the flight. He was later given first aid at the airport. He was then admitted to a hospital in Dubai. He is undergoing treatment there. Wife and two daughters have gone to Saudi. The boy is with Labib.

The convener of the UAE BNP also said that Babar will go to Saudi Arabia if he is healthy. He is expected to go to Singapore with his family for treatment at the end of the Umrah.

Babar fell ill on January 3, three days after being released. He was taken to a private hospital in the capital due to chest pain and shortness of breath at night.

It is to be noted that Lutfuzzaman Babar was acquitted on January 5 from the responsibility of life imprisonment in the much -discussed 5 truck arms cases in Chittagong. The High Court bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasrin Akhter announced the verdict. The former Home Minister was released from all cases through this verdict.
