Khaleda Zia's health check-up begins in London


BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at The London Clinic in the United Kingdom, has been undergoing various tests on her health. Blood and diabetes tests have already been done.

Liver, kidney and heart specialist doctors under Professor John Patrick Kennedy of that hospital reviewed some of Khaleda Zia's preliminary health test reports on Thursday. A ZM Zahid Hossain, his personal doctor who went to London with Khaleda Zia, told the media this information.

He said that the expert doctors there suggested several tests for Khaleda Zia's health. The tests are being conducted accordingly. Depending on the report of these tests, his further treatment will be decided.

79-year-old Khaleda Zia went to London on Wednesday for better treatment of various complex diseases including liver cirrhosis, kidney problems, heart disease. He arrived at London's Heathrow Airport around 9:30 a.m. UK local time from Dhaka in a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar. He was welcomed at the airport by his eldest son and acting chairman of BNP Tarek Rahman and daughter-in-law Dr. Zobaida Rahman. After the formalities at the airport, Tariq Rahman drove Khaleda Zia directly to The London Clinic. He was admitted there.

Khaleda Zia's treatment started immediately after admission. It is said that he was seen by specialist doctors at the hospital this morning and various tests are being conducted as per their advice.
