Judiciary is being used as a weapon by Yunus government, Jai alleges

Dr. Awami League's top leaders 'to seek political revenge'. Sajib Wazed Joy, son of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has alleged that Muhammad Yunus' government is using the judiciary as a weapon. He made this complaint in a post on social media X.

Jai termed the allegations of crimes against humanity against the mother as 'political vendetta' and the trial process at the International Criminal Tribunal as a 'farce'.

His son made the allegation after Dhaka's 'diplomatic letter' was given to New Delhi to send Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh to face trial.

In his post, Joy said, 'The trial process of the International Criminal Tribunal, conducted by judges and prosecutors appointed by the illegitimate Yunus government, is a farce. Its root is political revenge. Through this trial process, they have started a new chapter of systematically suppressing the leadership of Awami League in complete disregard of justice.'

Calling the International Criminal Tribunal a 'kangaroo tribunal', he said the ruling government is using this tribunal to persecute the opposition. Its judicial process is a 'purely political conspiracy', which ignores the concept of justice.

Sajib Wazed said, 'Hundreds of leaders and activists of Awami League are being killed illegally in addition to the proceedings of this so-called tribunal. They are being framed on baseless charges of murder. Apart from this, thousands of leaders and activists are being illegally arrested every day in the country.'

Highlighting the information on the case management of the Tribunal's chief prosecutor Tajul Islam on behalf of those accused of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, Joy said that on December 22, Tajul Islam had lied that “Interpol has issued a red notice against Sheikh Hasina”.

He claimed that Tajul made this lie as a 'part of the conspiracy to make Sheikh Hasina face a mock trial' through extradition.

There is still no news of Interpol's 'red notice' being issued against Sheikh Hasina. However, India has acknowledged the receipt of the 'diplomatic letter' given to India from Bangladesh. But the country has not commented on whether he will be returned.

Former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mahesh Sachdev told ANI that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may go to court against the Bangladesh government's extradition request.

Sajib Wazed said, 'From July to August every human rights violation should be investigated fairly and impartially. But Dr. The Yunus-led government is using the judiciary as a weapon. We have no confidence in this justice system.'

Sheikh Hasina resigned from Bangladesh on August 5 and took refuge in India. Through this, the 16-year rule of Awami League under his leadership in Bangladesh collapsed. Then on August 8, the interim government took over. Muhammad Yunus. After that, an arrest warrant was issued against Sheikh Hasina on various charges including crimes against humanity. Besides, arrest warrants have been issued against 45 former ministers and officials of his government.
