I acknowledge the sacrifice of Sheikh Mujib, but he is not the father of the nation: Nahid

Nahid Islam, convenor of the Jatiya Citizens Party (NCP), is reluctant to accept him as the father of the nation in the war of liberation. “We also remember the national tragedy that took place during the rule of Sheikh Mujib,” he said. Under his leadership, Bangladesh became a branch of India. ‘

He said this in a post written in English on his Verified Facebook page on Friday.

Nahid Islam said, “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not the father of the nation. We acknowledge his role and sacrifice in achieving independence. However, we also remember the national tragedy that took place during his rule. Under the leadership of Sheikh Mujib, Bangladesh became a branch of India. The anti -public constitution of 12 was imposed. The foundation of looting, political killings and one -party Baxal dictatorships were laid.

‘At the root of the fascist politics of the Awami League is the worship of Mujib and the War of Liberation, which is a political idol used to oppress the people, plunder the nation and divide the citizens into the first class and second class. It was nothing less than the modern landlord in disguise of democracy. Yet the liberation war was the struggle of all people. ‘

Nahid Islam said the Awami League has been considered its ancestral property for decades. Ruled without accountability. Mujib’s name has been used to justify every act of corruption and suppression.

Commenting that the mass uprising of 2021 has broken this ‘modern zamindari’, Nahid said that no family, a family, an ideal will never be allowed to take away the rights of citizens or impose fascism on Bangladesh. The title ‘Father of the Nation’ is not history. It is a fascist tool created by the Awami League to suppress disagreement and to exclude the state. In Bangladesh, all his citizens are equal and no single person can claim his birthplace or future ownership.

The leader of the NCP said that Sheikh Mujib and ‘Mujibabad’ was a ‘fascist ideology’ in the name of the War of Liberation.

Nahid Islam said the NCP struggle is not against any person; Rather against a fascist ideology. Mujibism is an ideology of fascism and division. This means forcibly disappearing, murder, rape and systematic human rights violations. This means looting the wealth of the nation and smuggling it abroad. This means to occupy Islamism, communalism and minority land. This means selling national sovereignty to foreign powers.

The convener of the NCP said that Mujib was politically alive for six years when the kidnapping, murder, plunder and genocide were behind his statue. Mujibism is a living danger. It requires political, ideological and cultural resistance to defeat it.

Establish a sovereign, democratic Bangladesh for the citizens of the NCP; Where no party, any dynasty and any leader will stand on the people. Bangladesh is not the property of anyone, it is the Republic of the People.
