A BNP leader named Kabir Ahmad Saudagar (65) was hacked to death by terrorists in Mirsrai of Chittagong. Four more people were injured.
The incident took place in the tree market area of the upazila on Thursday (October 10) evening. Police arrested two people in this incident.
Kabir Ahmad is the former vice-president of Hinguli Union BNP of upazila and currently a member of the union committee. He is the son of deceased Dil Mohammad of Ganakahra village of the same union.
Kabir Ahmed's sons Didarul Alam (42) and Jamshed Alam (35), Abdul Barek (28), Shariful Islam (30) and unknown (30) were injured.
The injured were rescued and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Unidentified youth (30) has been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital due to deteriorating physical condition.
Didarul Alam Miazi, convener of BNP in Bariyarhat town, said that the theft happened a few months ago in a shop of senior BNP leader Kabir Ahmed's market. Zia Uddin Bablu, the joint convener of Paur Jubo Dal held a meeting regarding the theft. In this incident, enmity arose with Kabir Ahmad and Zia Uddin Bablu. On Thursday evening, an armed terrorist group of 7-8 persons came to the shop of Kabir Ahmed and severely injured him. Kabir Ahmed's two sons, Didarul Alam and Jamshed Alam, along with some employees of the shop, were injured while trying to save their father.
Zia Uddin called Babulor's mobile number several times to inquire about this, but he did not receive.
Ershad Ullah, a doctor working in the emergency department of Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, said that a person named Kabir Ahmed was brought to the hospital in a dead state in the evening. He has multiple stab wounds on his body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj police station ATM Shifatul Mazdar said that the attack on Kabir Ahmad was due to previous enmity. Several others were injured in this incident. Kabir Ahmad died on the way to the hospital. It will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
