Police officials said that a person named Rajesh Sharma was later arrested. Accused Rajesh Sharma is a resident of Rajasthan, but has been living in Chennai for many years. A Chennai airport official said that when the incident occurred, the male passenger was sitting in seat 3A. The officer said, “The female passenger wanted to lodge a complaint with the police, so our staff helped her.” At present, IndiGo has not issued any formal statement on this incident.

A similar case was also heard by the Fast Track Court of Bengaluru, when a 51-year-old man, who was boarding a flight from Doha to Bengaluru, molested a minor girl. The accused in the case was drunk.
