One is from Ukraine, one is from the United States, one is from Germany, and the other two are from the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. These five women have reinvented not only the road but also their lives by holding the handle of the bike. Riding a bike has become a symbol of freedom for them despite the challenges of life.
On Sunday, Khaleej Times published a report about these five women who came to the United Arab Emirates from different parts of the world. In this report, various experiences of women's lives and stories of becoming bikers have emerged.
Among the women, Cieselska, now 34, stepped into a new life after a divorce at just 22. Never thought that a motorcycle event would change his life completely. The event was held in Cherkasy, Ukraine. There he was trying to see one side of the road while sitting behind the motorcycle of a long-bodied organizer. Just then he realizes, a partial view of life is not enough for him. He wants to take control of his life.
Later, Siselska moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2013 in search of a job. He started working in a restaurant there. Next to the restaurant was a bike garage. After saving money while working, he bought a motorcycle from that garage. Since then, an exciting life began for Siselska. Traveling became his passion. He once traveled alone from Dubai to Salalah in Oman.
Meanwhile, American teacher Katrina took an important turn in her professional life in 2019. He went to United Arab Emirates from Illinois, USA. After a few years of teaching in government schools in the Emirates, he was exhausted. It was then that he took a break from teaching for four years to discover himself.
Katerina had the experience of riding a green motorcycle with her father as a child. That memory is what inspires him to change. For off-road adventures, he bought a bike model 'KTM-250 SXF'. Although later he also used two bikes of Yamaha and Suzuki. He has traveled from the North Pole to South America by bike. His most memorable ride was along Highway 10 in Canada's Northwest Territories. It was along this road that he ate their traditional meals with the Inuit community.
At one point, Katrina took the leadership of the Women's International Motorcycle Association, Emirates branch. Under his leadership the membership increased from five to 127.
Sometimes there may be a desire to become a driver from a passenger. This was also the case with the United Arab Emirates. She used to travel with her husband on the back seat of the bike. But in 2010 he bought himself a Harley Davidson bike and started riding it. So far he has traveled to seven countries. She has proved that courage and willpower can help women to overcome any limit by crossing the difficult route of the Alps.
German citizen Konstanz learned how to ride a bike during the pandemic lockdown. Coming to Dubai, he gained confidence by riding his bike on the sandy desert roads. According to him, biking is not just about speed. It is like a meditation, where focus and stillness helps to find the meaning of life.
Born in Pakistan, Madiha grew up in the UK. But he became interested in riding a bike after going to Kenya. He also found his life partner while learning to ride a bike. Currently living in Dubai, he is well known as a biker.
Milena said to women who want to ride a bike, 'If you want to ride a bike, try it. It will show you new worlds and introduce you to amazing people.'
