Egypt aims to increase the volume of agricultural exports in the current year by 20%, with the support of increasing the agricultural area by about 2.2 million acres in the new delta, according to Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture.
Farouk indicated in a statement to the East on the sidelines of the effectiveness of the Egyptian Canadian Business Council, that the value of agricultural exports amounted to 10.6 billion dollars last year.
Egypt's agricultural exports grew in 2024 by 11% on an annual basis, according to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, to reach 8.6 million tons, issued by al -Muwahil by about 2.4 million tons.
Egypt hopes to double agricultural exports starting from 2026 or the following year, with the support of increasing the cultivated areas, especially since the government acquires the largest percentage of these areas, according to the minister.
It can find enhancing agricultural exports in support of the private sector as well, as Farouk indicated that 4 companies are currently looking for agricultural industrialization in Egypt, which will “happen” a boom in manufactured goods and increase exports.

The minister pointed out that the country continues to provide fertilizers supported by small farmers, despite the increase in prices globally and the high cost of production.
He added that the local fertilizer factories compensate for the price difference, “through export.”
