A video of an intimate moment of a couple on a Swiss Air flight from Bangkok to Zurich was leaked on social media. It has been alleged that the video went viral through the crew members. Citing the incident as a gross violation of personal privacy, Swiss Air authorities have launched a rigorous investigation. The airline authorities have promised to ensure punishment of those responsible for the video leak.
The video was captured by a cockpit-controlled security camera on a Swiss Air passenger plane. It shows that the couple was engaged in sexual activity in the galley of the plane. The incident took place last November during the 12-hour Swiss Air flight 181 from Bangkok to Zurich.
A user shared a screenshot of the video on social media and wrote, 'On a Swiss Air flight from Bangkok to Zurich, a couple had sex in the first class galley, which is the cockpit. Pilots hold it in secret. Later that video was shared in the group chat and went viral.
Swiss Air has launched an investigation citing the incident as a breach of personal privacy. Airline authorities have vowed to identify and punish crew members involved in video recording and sharing on social media without the couple's permission.
Swiss Air media spokesperson Mike Fulrot told the Daily Mail, 'Capturing and sharing videos of individuals without their express consent is against our principles and values. It breached applicable data protection laws.'
Fullrot added, 'Crew members should have intervened directly after seeing the couple on camera, not recording the video. Our crews are known for their professionalism. We believe in their skills and trust in their capabilities.'
The airline authorities also said that the viral video and sarcastic comments on social media are disrespectful to passengers.
Fullrot added, 'The trust and respectful treatment of our passengers is our highest priority. Trying to find out exactly what happened and how these recordings were leaked.'
Note that after the incident of 9/11, CCTV cameras were installed to prevent intrusion in the cockpit of the aircraft for the safety of the crew. It is not intended to monitor passengers but to monitor attempts to intrude into the cockpit, he said.
