Arab Finance: Within the framework of the expansion of the Egyptian state’s plan to strengthen its role as a regional energy center, especially in liquefied gas trade, by increasing trade exchange with Eastern Mediterranean countries, Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, witnessed the signing of a shareholders’ agreement to partner in establishing a joint company based in Greece between the company Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Greek Kobelozos Group with the aim of trading, transporting, supplying and regasifying gas in Eastern European countries and Greece. The agreement comes as one of the fruits of the meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and the Chairman of the Greek Kobelozos Group, during which it was agreed to implement several projects, including the supply and marketing of natural gas in Eastern European countries. Europe.

During his reception of the delegation of the Greek group, Badawy stressed the depth and strength of Egyptian-Greek relations and that the agreement is the beginning of opportunities to expand cooperation in the future, indicating the possibility of exchanging experiences and capabilities between the petroleum sector and the Greek group, especially in providing the energy needs of the two countries.

For his part, the head of the Greek group stressed his appreciation for the important role that Egypt plays in the region and the great potential it possesses, which makes it an attractive investment destination, especially for international oil companies, pointing to the desire of the Greek group to benefit from the potential possessed by the Egyptian petroleum sector, especially the gas liquefaction plants in Damietta and Idku. He expressed his optimism about deepening the partnership with the Egyptian petroleum sector and with the new Egyptian government in more future projects.
