New Delhi. Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams of IPL, has changed the head coach of the team before the 2025 season. 5-time champion Mumbai has again appointed former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene as its head coach. Jayawardene was associated with Mumbai Indians in the same role from 2017-2022. The franchise won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2017, 2019 and 2020-21.
Mahela Jayawardene will thus replace former South African wicketkeeper batsman Mark Boucher, who was the head coach of Mumbai Indians for two years. Mumbai Indians qualified for the knockouts in the 2023 phase but their performance this year was very poor in which the team could win only four out of 14 matches.
