One of the traditional main festivals of the Bengali nation is the 'Mangal procession' of the first Baishakh. This time the name of 'Mangal Jatra' has been changed to 'Anand Showy Yatra'.
The decision was made at a press conference at Osman Zaman Auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University on Friday (April 7th). The new name was announced by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh.

This year's first Baishakh will be celebrated for two days. This year's year -long slogan – 'New Year's Unity, Fascism is the end'. Chaitra Sankri is also held with the first Baishakh at the New Year festival.
