Tarek Rahman filled the party form with 20 taka

Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman renewed his primary membership with 20 taka (15 pence in British currency). On Monday (January 20) afternoon, the acting chairman of the party inaugurated the 'BNP membership renewal program' at the chairperson's office in Gulshan and renewed his membership through online subscription.

At the same time, the party's general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and treasurer M Rashiduzzaman Millat also filled the form and renewed their membership.

Shayrul Kabir Khan, member of BNP's media cell, said that Tarek Rahman filled the membership form and sent it to the e-mail along with the membership renewal fee. After the Sixth National Council, BNP's last primary membership renewal program was held in 2017 through party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Tariq Rahman said on the occasion, “I filled the form and sent 15 pence in local currency.”

Tariq Rahman, who joined virtually from London, said, 'Today is a happy day for BNP leaders and workers. The program that I started today, the leaders that I can see in front of me – here are our joint general secretaries, here are the organizing secretaries and co-organizing secretaries… We have to make this organizational program successful through you leaders.'

'That's why the party is looking at you… You have to unite the leaders who are at this level in the district, thana, town, union, village. I firmly believe that, as during the anti-dictatorship movement, you organized all of us and unitedly succeeded in our various programs, in the same way you will succeed in this program.

He said, 'We have to organize the grassroots. More work to be done now, huge work ahead of us. Come, the enthusiasm, the patriotism against the dictatorship, even after the disappearances and murders, even after hundreds of tortures, we have not stopped. We jumped into the movement against dictatorship with thousands of our workers, let's work together today to rebuild the party again in the same way.'

'The stronger we can reorganize this party, the faster we can repair the state through 31 points in the coming days. We can rebuild the state.'

Tariq Rahman said, 'After getting the support of the people, the country must also be reconstructed. We have presented 31 points before the country, before the people of the country, to repair the state to rebuild the country. If it has to be implemented, the party must be united.'

“We have to bring forward those people who are talented people. People who are hardworking, honest, have ideals, such people should be united… more and more should be brought to the party, should be associated with the party. We need good people, we need effective people in future. Because this state has been destroyed by a runaway dictatorship, taken far back. So if we have to rebuild our party, we need such people. Such people should be brought out.'

Party leaders at the Chairperson's office BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, 'We need training now. I don't know why our workers are moving away from politics. Yesterday, the birth anniversary of our founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was celebrated… Our workers who come here, usually come behind the brothers… come and shout slogans on behalf of those brothers… then shout East-West-North-South. This is not politics. It can't be politics.'

Incidentally, in a meeting of Chhatra Dal's founding anniversary, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia criticized the slogans of 'North-North, South-South' activists.

BNP Secretary General said, 'Look, such slogans should not come from the mouth of a political worker and how much a bankrupt politics there is… that is understandable. We have a very poor place… we should get out of here.'

'I think, we who are the political leaders… our chairman will take the initiative… the good work done so far, the chairman has taken the initiative… now political training must be made compulsory in every upazila and district, it must be made urgent. BNP should be made into an ideal party and leadership of talent should be developed. We cannot win further, further battles with slogans alone.'

BNP Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Treasurer Rashiduzzaman Millat spoke at the opening ceremony moderated by Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tukur.

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Advisory Council Member Abdus Salam, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohail, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anyi, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Abdus Salam Azad, Organizing Secretary Mahbube Rahman Shamim, on the opening day of the initial membership renewal program.
