The interim government has already set up six commissions to reform the state. The government will form a national consensus formation commission with the heads of this commission. The Chief Adviser gave such an indication in his address to the nation today.
On the occasion of the first great victory day after the student uprising, Dr. Muhammad Yunus said this. Dr. addressed the nation at 10 am. Yunus. His speech was broadcast on Bangladesh Television and BTV World.
He said, 'Political consensus is needed to undertake any reform work. What will be the process of reaching this consensus? The interim government constituted six reform commissions in the first phase. I hope they will submit the final report soon. We are moving towards establishing a “National Consensus Building Commission” with the chairmen of these six commissions. Its task will be to exchange opinions with all parties including political parties, to identify and recommend for implementation on all the issues on which consensus should be established. Considering that building national consensus is the most important responsibility of the Interim Government, I will assume the role of Chairman of this Commission. Professor Ali Riaz will serve as the vice-chairman of this commission with me. The commission may co-opt new members if deemed necessary. I hope that the National Consensus Formation Commission will be able to start working next month after receiving the final report of the first six commissions.
Dr. Yunus said, the first task of this new commission will be to quickly create a consensus on the decisions that are necessary for holding the election and finalize the advice on when the election can be held after discussing with everyone.
