Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, called upon the interim government to give a roadmap for the elections soon. He said, 'People should be made towards elections with the roadmap for quick elections. If the election road map is announced, then people will turn towards elections. If the people are election-oriented, they will not care about the conspiracies going on today.'
He said this at the discussion meeting of the National People's Party (NPP) at the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday.
Khandaker Musharraf said that it would not be wise to stay in power indefinitely by means of reforms. You (interim government) will start the reform, if it is not finished, the next elected government will finish the reform. This government has taken the responsibility to return the rights of the people. The main right among people's rights is the right to vote. Whatever reform proposals the government may have, the first and priority proposal should be to provide a roadmap for electoral reforms, from the Election Commission to the polls.
This member of the BNP Standing Committee said that there is an expectation on the interim government and there is a commitment to the people. This government is a product of the anti-discrimination movement. So to eliminate discrimination, reforms are needed. But this reform should be done very quickly. The term of the interim government is not indefinite, it has to be definite. They are proposing reforms at different times, we have also told the government at different times that it is not normal that a government can completely complete the reforms.
He also said that those who are conspiring to create unrest in the country today have a purpose to harm Bangladesh. But it will not be possible to damage this Bangladesh. I would like to remind those who conspire, there is also evidence that the people of Bangladesh have changed the government through elections.
Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said that there is a conspiracy for the next election. Today, the interim government is considered weak. That is why Sheikh Hasina is getting the courage to make various conspiracies about Bangladesh from sitting in India, India is also getting the courage to provoke there. In this place we have to take a cautious and courageous role.
