Online return submission has crossed two and a half lakhs. Besides, 10 lakh 50 thousand people have registered for filing returns online. This information was informed in a press release sent to the media by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday (November 10).
It said that the National Board of Revenue has opened the online return filing system for tax payers from September 9 to simplify the income tax return filing and payment process for the tax year 2024-2025. Individual taxpayers can easily and quickly prepare and file their returns online using the National Board of Revenue website www.etaxnbr.gov.bd.
According to NBR sources, individual taxpayers using the e-return system can prepare their own returns, file returns online or take printouts for offline filing of returns, through online banking, credit card/debit card or mobile financial services (Cash, Bikash, Rocket etc.). Receipt of instant proof of payment, return filing, income tax payment certificate and TIN (Tax Identification Number) Obtain certificate, copy of e-return filed for previous tax year and download proof of return filing. TIN and biometric verified mobile number in taxpayer's own name will be required to register in this system.
Note that after NBR launched this system in 2021, 61 thousand 491 taxpayers filed e-returns in the tax year 2021-2022, 2 lakh 44 thousand 481 people in the tax year 2022-2023 and 5 lakh 26 thousand 487 taxpayers in the tax year 2023-2024.
