Meta announced a major change in the artificial intelligence (AI) competition around the world. Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of the organization, said in an internal document on Monday that a new unit called 'Meta Superintendent Lab' (MSL) was formed to restructure the AI sector.
A total of 4 new researchers and software engineers have been appointed from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in the newly formed team. Among them are former Dipmind researchers Jack Ray and Pee San, OpenAI's Jiahui Yu, Shuchao Beau, Shengia Zhao and Hongu Rain. The team also includes Anthropic's Joel Pobar, who once worked for more than a decade to meet.
Alexander Wang, a former Chief Executive of Scale AI, will lead the unit. He will serve as the chief AI officer of the MSL. Meanwhile, the former CEO of GitHub Nat Friedman will lead the team with Alex. He will oversee the Materi AI -based products and applied research work.
