The conservative followers of Tabligh considered the grand gathering of the country's top clerics-ulama held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to protect Tabligh, Qaumi Madrasa and Deen as a 'political showdown'. They will hold a press conference on Wednesday (November 6) about this rally.
Sadpanthi Alemra will address the press conference held at the National Press Club at 11 am today. This was informed in a press release signed by Touhidul Haque Sohail on behalf of Haqqani Ulama Mashaikh Parishad general secretary Mufti Shafiullah Shafi Makki and general companions.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Abu Sayem, the media coordinator of Maulana Sader's followers in Bangladesh, said about the rally held on Tuesday (November 5), 'We work hard for the mainstream. We don't want to threaten anyone.'
Abu Sayem claimed in the media, 'It is merely a political show-down. They want to put pressure on the government by gathering the leaders and activists of different political parties and madrasa students around the upcoming elections.
He said, 'They want to get political benefits. These students are still not involved with this blessed work of Tabligh. Not even these political activists. Those who invest time in tabligh, give chilla are not present. But small children students have also been brought from madrasahs.'
Maulana Muaz bin Noor, a follower of Tabligh Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, said at the end of the meeting held at the Interior Advisor's office on Monday (November 4), 'We have been deprived of various issues including the field of Tabligh for seven consecutive years. Those who have been obstructing us for so long (followers of Maulana Mohammad Zobair) were invited by the ministry but they did not come. They have created this discrimination in Bangladesh. By not coming, they have defied the government. They want to understand that they will do whatever they want.'
Although Zubair supporters were not present at the meeting on Monday, Interior Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced the date of Ijtema. He mentioned that the World Ijtema will be held in two phases at Tongi in Gazipur. The first phase will be from January 31 to February 2 next year and the second phase will be from February 7 to 9.
The same date of Ijtema has been kept since the Mahasambesh on Tuesday. However, it was announced that Sadapantis would not be allowed to participate. Besides, the scholars have also demanded from the government.
