With an investment of 120 thousand euros it will be possible to satisfy the energy needs of the farm as well as obtain a possible estimated additional income of over 2,000 euros per month. An opportunity which, moreover, concerning agriculture, presents the further important benefit of combining agricultural and energy production, avoiding overlaps or in any case damaging one to the advantage of the other.
The EnerCia initiative of Cia Italian farmers
These are the objectives of the EnerCia Foundation, the new national renewable energy community which was presented to the Chamber of Deputies by Cia Italian Farmers. An initiative that aims to accompany agricultural companies in the energy transition by simplifying access to the advantages of Cer (renewable energy communities), avoiding the competition between food and non-food which in the past has produced the proliferation of photovoltaic systems in Italy to the detriment of agricultural production.
Accompanying companies towards renewable energy communities
The CIA project, however, is broader and behind the slogan “Renewable is Agriculture” aims to accompany companies in sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives capable of combining the advantages of agrivoltaics with those of renewable energy communities in order to also involve the territories and the social fabric, all while accompanying companies in the path fraught with bureaucratic, administrative and operational obstacles.
A source of additional income eliminating costs
The example, illustrated within the Cia project, a 183 kWp agrivoltaic system can guarantee the farmer an additional source of income which must be added to the benefit linked to self-consumption which is estimated to have a value of around 6 thousand euros per year.
Fini (Cia): food and energy are not in competition
«This is a concrete step – commented the president of Cia Agricoltori italiani, Cristiano Fini – towards the promotion of innovative models of production and sharing of renewable energy in the agricultural and rural sectors. A system of tools, services and integrated skills, working for a better productive yield and defense of the soil, because food and energy are not in competition, but part of a common challenge that brings value to small and medium-sized enterprises, but also to the overall governance of the territories”.
