Chairman of Land Reform Board. Abdus Sabur Mandal has been sent on compulsory retirement by the government. On Thursday (November 28), the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard. Abdus Sabur Mandal was an influential and popular government official during the previous Awami League government.
He served as the Director of the A2I Project of the Prime Minister's Office. He came to the discussion in July 2019.
Titus Ghosh, a 6th class student of Kalia Pilot Secondary School in Narail district, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on July 25 of that year. After being injured, he was first taken to a private hospital in Khulna. Later he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an ambulance with ICU for better treatment.
The ambulance carrying him reached Kathalbari No. 1 Ferry Wharf in Madaripur around 8 pm. At around 9 pm, the ferry called Comilla arrived at Kathalbari Ghat from Shimulia and unloaded the car. At that time, the people of the patient told the workers at the ghat about the condition of their patient, but the ghat authorities did not agree to leave the ferry until the officer's car arrived after unloading the car.
After waiting for a long time, the ferry left after the arrival of the white Noha microbus with the sticker of the Ministry of Shipping. When the ferry reached the middle of the river, Titus died in the ambulance due to massive bleeding in the brain.
Later, from Shimulia Ghat, the family again reached Kanthalbari Ghat by ferry and returned to Narail with the body of Titus.
Writ in High Court: Chairman of Legal Support and People's Rights and Supreme Court lawyer wrote in High Court seeking investigation and compensation in the death of Titus. In the investigation report, the committee has accused three people of delaying the ferry. However, joint secretary Sabur Mandal was not held responsible. The report states that Sabur did not know that the unconscious patient was waiting in the ambulance. The three did not tell him about it. Therefore, the report states that there is no reasonable cause to accuse Sabur Mandal.
The three accused for delaying the ferry are Ghat Manager Salam Hossain, Marginal Assistant Khokon Miah and Senior Assistant Feroz Alam.
