'While making A.League a friend, India has made the people of Bangladesh an enemy'

BNP Standing Committee member Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that the Indian government's big mistake is that they made the people of Bangladesh enemies while making Awami League their friend. They don't want friendship with people, they have made friendship with Awami League.

He said these things at the discussion meeting titled 'Awakening of Bangladeshi consciousness against Indian aggression' organized by Bangladesh Puja Udjaj Front at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Friday (December 6).

Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, 'Our state is much smaller than India. But we are a free nation. The biggest asset of our country is the brave young society. I have seen that the students fought with me during the liberation war as well. But what this year's students have shown is unimaginable. These are our pride.'

He said, 'The revolution of July-August came from God. When people are shot from helicopters, we are unarmed. But when someone transgresses… In our religion Allah never forgives transgressors. Sheikh Hasina has violated the limit. So today they had to escape.'

Major Hafeez said, 'We had a good relationship with India. Politicians have ruined it. We want a liberal democratic country. Irrespective of caste and religion, we want to see the respect of the flag of Bangladesh.

This member of the BNP Standing Committee said, 'We are citizens of a modern state. We want to live in a beautiful country with people of all religions and races. Why did I fight in 1971? Pakistan was a Muslim country. Why do we have to fight against him? Because religion is not the greatest for us. Humanity is big for us. We fight for democracy, fight for voting rights, fight against corruption. I don't go to destroy anyone's temple, I don't go to destroy someone's mosque.

Regarding the interim government, he said, 'We cannot do anything to the murderers of the popular uprising. Because the friends of dictatorship are still sitting in this government.'

Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Co-Chairman of Gana-Forum, said in the meeting, 'There are still some evil forces in the country. Attempts to oppress in various ways. I did not get justice for the torture that took place in the last 54 years. Due to lack of justice new incidents are happening. We have to get out of this culture of injustice.'

Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front president Aparna Roy Das presided over the meeting and General Secretary Sameer Kumar Basu moderated the discussion meeting. Member of BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council Professor Sukomal Barua, Journalist Amirul Islam Kaggi, Front leader Amlendu Apu etc. spoke at the meeting.
