We will remain in consensus for national interest: Salahuddin Ahmad


Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmad has commented that political parties will remain united on the question of national interest even if there are differences of opinion and political debate in the National Parliament. He said that all political forces should work together for national interest.

He said this at the Iftar party organized on the occasion of the first anniversary of the National Citizen Party (NCP). Today Saturday after 4:30 pm the main ceremony of the foundation anniversary started at Abahani Ground in Dhanmondi of the capital.

Salahuddin Ahmed said at the event, “There will be arguments, debates and majority opinion in the National Parliament.” But for the sake of national interest, we will remain united.’ He also said that politics is not static; The manifesto, constitution and program have to be changed according to the needs of time. He also expressed hope that NCP will be stronger in future.

NCP’s ally Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that the consensus reached on 48 constitutional reforms in the spirit of the July mass uprising should be implemented in the national parliament. He said that every promise approved in the referendum should be reflected in the constitution.

The Jamaat leader also said that the dreams of the martyrs should be fulfilled through systematic and constructive politics with the energy of the youth.

The slogan of the first anniversary of the NCP was – ‘The country will go on a new path, will not return to fascism’. Ariful Islam Adeeb, senior joint convenor of the party and convenor of the anniversary celebration committee, gave a welcome speech at the anniversary event. Shaheed Ahnaf’s sister Advocate Syeda Akhter gave the opening speech. Conducted by joint member secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat and office cell member Sadia Farzana Dina.

Convenor of NCP Nahid Islam gave the closing speech. He said that NCP’s goal is to create a fascism-free, justice-based and hegemony-free Bangladesh. He urged to strengthen the grass roots organization keeping the local government elections in front.

Nahid Islam also said that an alternative has been created from the power of the revolution, that alternative wants to rebuild Bangladesh. He said that the party will be active to ensure the implementation of reforms in the National Parliament and the reflection of public opinion.

A documentary on NCP’s political activities in the last one year was screened at the event. Later Maulana Sanaullah Khan led the prayer. It is prayed for the welfare of the country and nation, acceptance of Ramadan fast and protection of the country from all forms of hegemony and fascism.

Poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Mahdi Amin, Acting General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council Hasan Al Mamun, leaders of 11 party alliances including Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) were present at the Iftar ceremony.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to build a justice-based and hegemony-free Bangladesh in this foundation anniversary event. The speakers said that the emergence of NCP as a newly established party, participation in parliamentary elections and winning six seats are indicative of its political future. The event ended with a pledge to remain united in the struggle to rebuild a democratic state.
