Three people including wife were sentenced to death for killing tourists in Sylhet


The court has ordered the death penalty of three people, including his wife, for killing a tourist in Sylhet's Jaflong. Judge Shayla Sharmin of Sylhet's Additional District and Sessions Judge Fourth Court gave the verdict on Thursday (28 November) morning. At the same time, each accused has been fined 20,000 taka.

They are Khushnahar, the wife of Ale Imran, a resident of Chetragurai village in Nikli, Kishoreganj, and her alleged lover Md. Dhaka. Mahmudul Hasan Mahin and associate Nadeem Ahmad Naeem of Gazirtek village of Rupganj, Narayanganj.

According to police and court sources, on April 16, 2023, the dead body of a tourist named Al Imran was found in a drain near the Jaflong tourist spot in Goainghat. Later the body was recovered by the police. Khushnahar was absconding since then.

The victim's father filed a case with the Goainghat police station as the plaintiff. After the case, police Al Imran's wife Khushnahar, estranged lover. Mahmudul Hasan, accomplice Nadeem Ahmad and a minor were arrested.

On October 23 of the same year, the investigating officer of the case submitted the charge sheet to the court accusing four persons. The court gave this verdict after the evidence and hearing.

Sylhet District and Sessions Judge Court Public Counsel (PP) Md. Jalal Uddin said that the court has ordered the death penalty to the three accused including his wife in the tourist murder case. Considering the age of another accused, the trial is going on in the children's court, he said.
