Before the budget is presented, the stock market is a boom today i.e. February 1. The Sensex is trading at 77,637 levels with a gain of 136 points. The Nifty is also trading at 20 points at 23,528.
Of the 30 shares of Sensex, 22 are rose and 8 decline. Out of 50 shares of Nifty, 33 are rose and 18 declines. Nifty consumer durables in the NSE Sectoral Index have the highest growth of 0.82%.
Foreign investors sold shares of ₹ 1,188.99 one day before the budget
- According to NSE data, on 31 January, Foreign Investors (FIIS) sold shares worth Rs 1,188.99 crore. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,232.22 crore.
- On January 31, the US Dow Jones closed down 0.75% to close at 44,544. The S&P 500 index fell 0.50% to close at 6,040. The Nasdaq index fell by 0.28%.


The market is open on Saturday due to budget
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are open due to the Union Budget even after Saturday. Both exchanges will be open from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm like normal business days. Stock exchanges usually remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
- On 1 February 2020, the budget day was Saturday, due to which the market was opened.
- The budget day was Saturday on 28 February 2015, due to which the market was opened.
The market fell 1278 points in the last budget, but later recovery came
In the budget presented in July last year, the government increased the short term and long term capital gains tax. After this, the Sensex fell 1,278 points to 79,224 during trading. However, it later received recovery. It closed at 80,429 levels with a decline of 73 points.
The Nifty also fell 435 points to 24,074 during the budget speech. It also recovered before the market closed and closed 30 points to close at 24,479 levels. Out of 50 shares of Nifty, there was a rise in 20, 29 declines. There was no change in one.

Yesterday, there was a rise of 740 points in the market
Yesterday i.e. 31 January, the Sensex rose by 740 points to close at 77,500 levels. The Nifty also rose by 258 points, closed at 23,508 levels.
Out of 30 Sensex's 30 shares, there was a rise in 25 and 6 declined. The Nifty's 50 shares rose in 44 and a decline in 7. The consumer durables sector rose by 2.44% in the NSE Sectoral Index.
