Chennai . Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin flagged off the 'test drive' of Mahindra's electric SUV designed and developed in the state at a program organized at the Secretariat. Mahindra launched its BE6e at Rs 26.9 lakh (showroom price) and XEV 9e at Rs 30.5 lakh (showroom price) in Cheyyar and Chengalpattu in November 2024. President (Automotive Product Development), Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and Joint Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, R. Velusamy said that this SUV will be available for 'test drive' from January 14.
“…BE 6E and XEV 9E have been manufactured on our soil,” Velusamy told reporters. These have many features which include 'inbuilt sensors' which helps in avoiding collision with any object.'' He said that apart from this, if the driver takes his eyes off the road while driving the car, it alerts him. . The SUV is equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors, six cameras and five radars. The battery charges up to 80 percent in 20 minutes. Once charged it can run up to 500 kilometers.
