Expansion
Rahul Gandhi says that the original East India Company had vanished from the country 150 years ago, but now it has been replaced by a new breed of monopolists (syndicates). The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that the East India Company enslaved the country not by virtue of its business power but by controlling India. Rahul Gandhi said these things in an article written for a media organization.
'East India Company enslaved us by controlling the country's banking system and administration'
Rahul Gandhi has also shared this article on social media. Rahul Gandhi wrote that 'The East India Company controlled this country by partnering with the kings and nawabs of our country, by bribing them or by threatening them. They controlled the banking, administrative and information systems of our country. We did not lose our independence to any country, but we were defeated by a monopolistic corporation and then ran an oppressive system. Now the original East India Company is gone, but it has been replaced by a new breed of monopolists. This article by Rahul Gandhi is being considered as an attack on the Central Government. Rahul Gandhi has often accused the government of supporting some capitalists.
Rahul Gandhi warned
Rahul Gandhi wrote in the article that 'These monopolists are acquiring a lot of wealth, whereas India belongs to everyone and this is increasing inequality.' The former Congress president wrote that 'Our institutions no longer belong to our people, they run at the behest of monopolists. Lakhs of businesses have been destroyed and India is not able to generate employment for its youth. Rahul Gandhi stressed that 'Choose your India: Fair play or monopoly? Jobs or oligarchy? Qualification or connection? Innovation or intimidating environment? Is property for all or just for a few?'
'Everyone has the right to the country's resources'
Gandhi said in his article that 'Mother India is the mother of all her children. The monopoly of some people on their resources and power hurts Mother India. I know that hundreds of talented businessmen in India are afraid of monopolists. Are you one of them? Are you afraid of monopolists in collusion with the state entering your territory and crushing you? Afraid of Income Tax, CBI or ED raids that will force you to sell your business to them? They'll change the rules of the game midway to beat you?'
Gandhi said, 'My politics has always been about protecting the weak and the voiceless. I take inspiration from the words of Gandhiji in which he said that the last person standing in the 'line' should be protected. This conviction inspired me to support MNREGA, Right to Food and Land Acquisition Bills. I stood with the tribals.
