Protest at Petrapole if Hindu persecution does not stop in Bangladesh: Shuvendu

West Bengal opposition leader and BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari again raised allegations of Hindu torture in Bangladesh. On Tuesday (November 12) in Kolkata, he said, 'I will go to Petrapol and protest if the persecution of Hindus is not stopped on the other side.'

Earlier, Subhendu had written to Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and requested him to take action to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi Hindus. This time, he took the direct path to protest against the persecution of Hindus.

On this day, opposition leader Shubhendu Adhikari participated in a march from Kolkata's Rani Rasmani Avenue to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Bekbagan to protest against the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. The procession was organized by an organization called Giri Govardhandhari Charitable Trust. The activists went to Calcutta High Court for not getting permission from the police to organize this procession. The Calcutta High Court allowed the procession on this day under the conditions of a peaceful procession.

However, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh said, 'I am personally against the procession. The procession will be held from Rani Rasmani Avenue to Bekbagan. But we have to march in a peaceful manner.'

According to the judge's order, if a tense situation arises, the police can use batons to disperse the crowd. Police can take legal action against local people if they create any problem in the procession area.

Besides Shuvendu Adhikari, BJP leader Rekha Patra Okoustubh Bagchi was also present in the procession. In a brief meeting before the procession, Shuvendu said, 'We are affected. We want to convey that message to Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner. Close all this. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction if not stopped.'

After that, he said, 'If Hindu oppression in Bangladesh is not stopped, we will protest at the Petrapol border. You are organized, united. And I am not afraid to complain where you can against me. We will continue to defend our religion against the destruction of temples, against attacks on Hindus. No one can stop us.'
