Union Information Technology (IT) Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that if digital public infrastructure such as Aadhaar is used with artificial intelligence (AI) equipment, then its strength can increase by 100 times. At the IT industry body NAScom's Technology and Leadership Forum NTLF 2025, Vaishnav said that the government has already started using AI equipment with DPI (digital public infrastructure).
He said, “When we use AI, the power of DPI can actually be 10, 20 or 100 times.” The minister said that if China can make a 'Dipcik' basic AI model, there is no reason why a country like India, which has made affordable innovation to reach the moon, why not make the same model at low cost.
He said that the application process for the scheme promoted by the government has already started to make his own huge model. He also expressed confidence in developing his model by India's startup. Vaishnav said that India is adopting a technology-legal approach to regulation rather than adopting a rigorous stance like European countries. The minister said that Japan has given a patent to the integrated payment interface (UPI) developed in India.
