In this regard, ANI, quoting the Revenue Department notification, said that the central government has increased the excise duty by Rs 2 per liter on both petrol and diesel. The notification states that the revised excise duty will be applicable from April 8, 2025.
The central government has given a big blow to the general public. The Center has increased excise duty on the price of petrol and diesel. This excise duty has increased by two rupees per liter. Oil companies can now charge a higher price from customers. Soon petrol and diesel will start selling at an expensive price.
In this regard, ANI, quoting the Revenue Department notification, said that the central government has increased the excise duty by Rs 2 per liter on both petrol and diesel. The notification states that the revised excise duty will be applicable from April 8, 2025. According to the order, excise duty on petrol has been increased to Rs 13 per liter and diesel by Rs 10 per liter.
Industry sources told news agency PTI that although excise duty has been increased, retail prices are unlikely to increase due to fall in global oil prices. The order states that the fee in public interest has been increased by the Central Government under the purview of Section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 and Section 147 of the Finance Act, 2002.
