Newly elected committee of DRU takes charge

The leaders of the new committee of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) have taken responsibility with the determination to be united in improving the quality of professional journalists, increasing their skills, protecting the rights of members and developing infrastructure.

The outgoing committee handed over the responsibility to the newly elected committee (2025) at DRU's Nasrul Hamid Auditorium on Friday.

The newly elected president Abu Saleh Akon and general secretary Mainul Hasan Sohail spoke at the event under the chairmanship of outgoing committee president Syed Shukur Ali Shubo and moderated by general secretary Mohi Uddin.

On the occasion, the outgoing committee president and general secretary along with the leaders congratulated the newly elected committee. Later the newly elected president and general secretary along with others handed over the crest to the outgoing committee leaders.

The election of DRU Executive Committee-2025 was held on November 30. Abu Saleh Akon, Chief Reporter of Daily Naya Digante, was elected as the President. Mainul Hasan Sohel, Senior Reporter of Dainik Inkilab has been elected General Secretary.

In addition, Ghazi Anwar, Joint Secretary Nadia Sharmin, Finance Secretary Sakhawat Hossain Sumon, Organizational Secretary Abdul Hai Tuhin, Office Secretary Rafiq Rafi, Women Affairs Secretary Rozina Rozi, Publicity and Publication Secretary Mizan Chowdhury, Information Technology and Training Secretary Md. Shariful Islam, sports editor. Mojibur Rahman, cultural secretary Emdadul Haque Khan, entertainment secretary Mohammad Chalim Ullah (Mezbah) and welfare secretary Rafiq Mridha were elected.

Md. executive member. Junaid Hossain (Junaid Shishir), Aktaruzzman, Md. Borhan Uddin, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Md. Farooq Alam, Sumon Chowdhury and Md. Salim Ullah (S.U. Salim) was elected.
