Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma termed poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's timeless and incomparable work as a unique medium to improve relations between the citizens of Bangladesh and India.
He said these things in the welcome address of the 'Najrul's Shyama Sangeet' program organized by the High Commission's Indira Gandhi Cultural Center (IGCC) at the Indian Cultural Center in the capital's Gulshan on Tuesday (November 12) afternoon.
Prannoy Verma said, 'Bangladesh and India's joint cultural heritage is the timeless and invaluable work of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. His creation is a unique platform for building close people-to-people relations and cultural connections between the two countries.
Presented by IGCC Director and High Commission First Secretary (Politics and Culture) Anne Marie George, artist Tito Munshi recited Nazrul's famous poem at the event. Shyama Sangeet was performed by artists Mridula Samaddar and Bijan Chandra Mistry.
High Commissioner's spouse Manu Verma, Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Badhe and prominent people of Bangladesh's art, culture and literature were present in the event.
