Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asked the opposition party Jamaat-e-Islami to apologize for the actions taken during the liberation war. He said, ‘There is still time, you can think about it. We should also inform Bangladesh by clarifying your position about Bangladesh.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam said these things in the general discussion on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.
Addressing the opposition party, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Our friends are trying to ignore us in various ways. Trying to annoy us in different ways. I think this time is not right. You also need to look back at yourself. You never once apologized for your role in 1971. You should have apologized to the nation. Doing this does not cause problems today. You didn’t do that.’
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Furthermore, your leader Ghulam Azam Sahib said-“We have not made a mistake in Ekatar”. There is still time, you can think about it. We, Bangladesh, should make your position clear about Bangladesh. I don’t want to go any further. You never make it clear about the 1970s.’
At that time, when something was said from the opposition, the local government minister said, ‘You don’t say it clearly. I have not heard until today. nobody heard If you accept this, it will become easier to do politics.’
Addressing the NCP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, ‘The youth party has allied with a party that does not believe in the independence of Bangladesh. I hope they bring their politics forward more clearly. These young politicians have a future. They will do well. We want them to do well. They should not be in politics with such a stigma, who continue to deny the question of the existence of Bangladesh.’
