New Delhi. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra paid tribute to Manmohan Singh, saying he has left an indelible mark as the father of India's economic reforms. Former Prime Minister and Finance Minister Singh was also the Governor of RBI between 1982 and 1985. Malhotra wrote on the social media platform 'X', “I am deeply saddened by the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was a visionary economist and former Governor of RBI. As the father of India's economic reforms, his contributions have left an indelible mark. RBI is with the country in this sad hour. ,
Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan also condoled the demise of Manmohan Singh and described him as a brilliant economist who had a far-sighted view of India's prospects as well as a good sense of political feasibility. Speaking to PTI, Rajan said, “He was a brilliant economist who had a brilliant vision about the future of India. At the same time, he also had a good understanding of what was politically possible… The liberalization and reforms he carried out with the support of Prime Minister Narasimha Rao laid the foundation of the modern Indian economy.
