Kaliya Remark In Karnataka: Congress leader and Karnataka government minister Zameer Ahmed has created controversy by making racial remarks against former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. While addressing a public meeting, he called Kumaraswamy as “Kalia Kumaraswamy”. After which now JDS has counterattacked. JDS said that Zameer Ahmed used racial slurs for Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy during the Channapatna by-election campaign.
In fact, Karnataka government minister Zameer Ahmed, while addressing a gathering, said that Kalia Kumaraswamy is more dangerous than BJP. At the same time, JDS termed it a racist comment and asked Congress whether the party would say the same to Mallikarjun Kharge, because he is also a Kannadigas.
JDS demands dismissal of Zameer Ahmed
Kumaraswamy's party JDS, while criticizing the statement of Minister Zameer Ahmed, posted on social media X that Minister Zameer Ahmed has used racial slurs during the by-election campaign. He has insulted Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy by calling him “Kalia Kumaraswamy” (Black Kumaraswamy). By doing this they have racially insulted black people and discriminated against them. These racially hateful remarks coming from his mouth are unforgivable. JDS further said that the people of the state will give a befitting reply to your derogatory words and your negative mentality towards black people. Also demanded the dismissal of Minister Zameer Ahmed from Congress.
BJP leaders condemned racist remarks
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the racist comment saying “I strongly condemn Congress Minister Zameer Ahmed calling Union Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Kumaraswamy 'Kalia Kumaraswamy'. This is a racist comment, right Like Rahul Gandhi's advisor has described South Indians as Africans, North-Easterners as Chinese and North Indians as Arabs.
Let us tell you that Zameer Ahmed is a cabinet minister in the Congress led Siddaramaiah government. Jameer Ahmed has been a 5-time MLA from Chamarajpet constituency and is also in-charge of the important department of minority affairs.
