A high-level delegation of the Environment Committee of the German Parliament held a meeting with Bangladeshi environmental experts, leaders of civil society and various political parties. Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar was present there on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
A meeting will be held at the German Embassy today, Tuesday (April 7) at 7 p.m.
In the meeting, the head of the environment committee of the German parliament, Michael Theus, the German ambassador to Bangladesh. Rudiger Lotz along with concerned officials were present.
The meeting discussed the strengthening of technical and financial cooperation of Germany in the implementation of various development programs undertaken by Bangladesh with the aim of effectively dealing with the challenges of environment and climate change. Apart from this, special emphasis is placed on expanding cooperation to achieve capacity development, research and knowledge exchange, sustainable economy, waste management, renewable energy, water reuse and above all environmental governance. Besides, energy efficiency and green cooling, reduction of carbon emissions, conservation of biodiversity and increased mutual cooperation in environment-friendly industrialization are also emphasized.
The German delegation reaffirmed their continued cooperation in environmental protection, sustainable development and climate resilient infrastructure development in Bangladesh.
